Painting Tips 2

"The Falls"

I use my 1/8" round brush with Hookers Green to lay a layer of palm leaves
on top of the blue background ones to add depth. Then I start mixing white
with the green. I make each layer lighter to create a deep depth (I usually
add four  to five layers to get the desired effect).

Next, way in the back ground is where the falls will be. I use Sap Green
with a hint of blue to suggest mountains. Then a light spray of white and
blue for the falls. All you want is a far off look, with no detail and just a hint of color.
Next I blocked in my forward branches so the parrots will have something to stand on.
I did this in white as you know by now the colors are more vivid
painted on white than on the background color.

With  my 1/4" brush I blocked in the Parrots, I did this so I could
see where my main focal point would be, and be able to lay in the
plants in the foreground. Time to let this painting dry a little , and
take a break. Check back soon to see the next steps in the painting.
